Dana Telzer and his party spent the 1st of October on the LIRON and the day was action packed. Two magnificent Marlin were landed, one at 184 pounds and he other 618 pounds. El Banco was the hot-spot as it often is and although it costs more, just look at the 'catch of the day!'
Phil was on his best behavior because on the previous day on the LIRON, he had spooled a reel and was in big trouble with Bill Peterson (who was not in a very good mood in October to begin with). Phil was prepared to do anything to land these fish. The mates use gloves but old Phil figured that he had a few years on the boys and considerably more experience. So, he 'Took the Bull by the Horns' or rather, 'The Marlin by the Bill' and his hands were in a dire state for most of the month.
Phil's home cure involved slices of fresh Aloe Vera attached to each of his 10 fingers with duct tape. He terrified a few small children and even a TelMex technician visiting for a service call, the poor man took off at high speed muttering something about gringo loco when Phil opened the door. The final cure included an enormous quantity of gauze, many boxes of band-aids and a strong course of antibiotics. Congratulations Dana.
